Our Research
Te Poutoko Ora a Kiwa adopts a transdisciplinary approach to research, drawing on diverse and integrated methodologies to address some of the most pressing societal health challenges. We have a strong track record and specialised expertise across four key, interconnected focus areas. These are underpinned by cross-cutting priorities including health systems strengthening, research translation, policy and legislative frameworks, leadership, and workforce development. Our four research focus areas are as follows:

Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs)
Research focused on understanding, preventing, and managing chronic illnesses that disproportionately affect Pacific populations.

Women and Young People
Focusing on improving health outcomes for women and young people through culturally responsive and equity-driven research.

Pandemic Response and Preparedness
Enhancing capacity and strategies to effectively respond to current and future infectious disease threats.

Climate Change Adaptation & Resilience
Investigating the health impacts of climate change and developing adaptive solutions to protect vulnerable communities.
